The Big Red House: A journey through time
Step into the rich history of The Big Red House, a landmark woven into the fabric of our charming town since 1895. Discover the stories, the people, and the unique character that have made this house truly special.

The midwife's haven: A town's beginning
Built in 1895, The Big Red House has been a steadfast presence in this charming little town for over a century. It is said that it was once the home of the local midwife who provided shelter and care to ranch wives from distant distant ranches as they awaited the birth of their children. Its strategic proximity to the local hospital and clinic made it a vital hub for new life and community support.

Mike's marvel: A house of endless discovery
Fast forward to the previous owner, Mike – a man of immense personality, eclectic talents, and a touch of insomnia. Much like Mrs. Winchester of the Winchester Mystery House fame, he continually built onto the house, transforming it into a fascinating maze of rooms and even a semi-secret passageway! Mike's vision was to create a comfortable and luxurious sanctuary for himself and his wife, prepared for any unforeseen catastrophe.

Prepared for anything: A self-sufficient sanctuary
Mike's meticulous preparations included pallets of toilet paper and water in the basement, a dried food pantry capable of feeding the entire town, and a three-bay garage. One bay even featured a 12-foot roll-up door, specifically designed to accommodate his RV, which could then be conveniently plugged into his sewer system. The Big Red House truly was a testament to his ingenious and resilient spirit.
The Big Red House is more than just a building; it's a living piece of history.
